In conjunction with Archifest 2019

This 2.5 hour workshop introduces participants to a modern interpretation of Kintsugi as a means of recycling with new material. Kintsugi is a traditional Japanese technique that uses gold to repair broken ceramics, thus beautifying and emphasizing the mended cracks rather than disguising it. Through this workshop, participants are encouraged to look and bring along unwanted ceramics that are typically thought of as waste, as materials for making accessories such as brooches, clips, or earrings instead.

○ Introduction to kintsugi
○ Examining broken pieces
○ Design of wearables
○ Demonstration
○ Creating the pieces
